Oba Obateru Akinruntan is the richest king in Nigeria and had been named the second richest in Africa (the first being King Mohammed VI, Morocco). He is the Olugbo of Ugbo land, a small oil-rich community in Ondo state, Nigeria. He is an oil businessman and the founder of Obat Oil, one of Nigeria’s biggest and leading private oil companies, which owns more than 50 gas stations across Nigeria and also one of the largest tank farms in Africa. Aside these, he is also the owner of several other businesses across the country and has an estimated net worth of $300 million.

  • 2. OBA ADEYEYE OGUNWUSI ENIITAN, ILE-IFE, OSUN

This young king is the second richest king in Nigeria . He is the Ọọ̀ni of Ile-Ife’. Ile-Ife is an ancient city located in Osun state and a very important town in the history of the Yoruba kingdom. This king among some of his achievements is that he broke a 79 year-old antagonism between the thrones of Ifẹ and Ọ̀yọ́ by visiting the Aláàfin, the first of such visits in eight decades by an Ifẹ monarch.

This is the Amirul Mumineen in Nigeria. He is not only a traditional king in the country but also a religious leader in the country. More specifically the titular ruler of Sokoto in northern Nigeria, head of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (Society for the Support of Islam), and president-general of the Nigerian National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA). Prior to him becoming the Sultan of Sokoto, he served in the Nigerian army and retired as a Brigadier General. He is regarded as the third richest traditional ruler in Nigeria.

This is one king that is known by many in the country. If you don’t know him as the Emir of Kano, you would definitely know him as a former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria. He assumed office as the Emir of Kano on the 8 June 2014 as the Emir of Kano, succeeding his late grand uncle Dr Ado Bayero who died on Friday 6 June 2014. He is the 4th richest king in Nigeria .

Oba Lamidi is the Alaafin of Oyo and one of the most powerful king in Nigeria. He is the 5th richest king in Nigeria and was crowned after the death of Gbadegesin Ladigbolu II.
